Villybot™ is an autonomous robot with the purpose of an autonomous lawn mowing, with minimal human assistance. What preceded the production of the Villybot™ robotic lawn mower was a perennial, developmental research process with the goal of creating a highly sophisticated, reliable, autonomous unit, which, on the other hand, would be dependable and durable. During the developmental phase, special attention was given to user experience.
The installation of Villybot™ robotic lawn mower is relatively simple. When handling for the first time, several simple instructions should be followed, such as distance from the lawn edge; minimal distance between perimeter lines; perimeter lines not crossing paths, etc. (more details in the User manual). Villybot™ robotic lawn mower moves at a random rectilinear path and is capable of mowing 120 m2 per hour of work. It operates on terrain slopes of up to 30°. Villybot™ is equipped with sensors for rain and obstacle detection. In the case of rain detection, it takes itself back to the docking station (the docking station should be covered and protected from downfall since it is where the battery charging takes place as well). When approaching an obstacle, Villybot™ stops and searches for the ideal path in order to go around it (the producer’s recommendation is to remove all obstacles before operating). The perimeter line serves to mark the lawn edges, and begins and ends at the docking station. The maximum length of the perimeter line is 500 m.
